The von Karman Postdoctoral Instructorship Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics

The von Karman Postdoctoral Instructorship is open to candidates showing exceptional promise in research and instruction, and we invite applications from researchers in all areas of applied mathematics including (but not limited to) mathematics of data science, statistics, machine learning, numerical analysis, optimization, probability, scientific computing, signal processing, and uncertainty quantification. We also invite applications from researchers who have demonstrated strong connections between computational mathematics and applications in science and engineering. The instructorship is offered as a two-year position, and, depending on mutual interests, may be extended to the third year. Candidates are expected to contribute to teaching in the department, as well as pursue research. The teaching requirement consists of 2-3 quarters per year with the subject matter mutually agreed upon to provide a balance between departmental needs and research interests of the candidate.
